Getting a good image is both knowing which rules to follow and which to break. Beyond that, it's seeing what you are trying to see without letting the tools confuse the process.

When it's stuff you are taking pictures of - it's you that has to see where it's going. When it's a person, they must be comfortable and confident in what you attempt to capture. The eyes tell the whole story.
